Does Xero have time tracking?

Xero offers Xero Projects that can be used to track time spent on individual tasks and projects. While Xero Projects can be useful for basic time entry, it might not be suitable for larger businesses that require more advanced features that integrate with other tools and provide additional functionality.

In this case, it may be beneficial to consider integrating Xero with a third-party employee time tracking tool, such as Hourly's time tracking app.

Invoicing and Data Management

Is it possible to generate Xero invoices through Hourly?

Yes, indeed. Within Hourly, you can configure your draft invoices to automatically convert to Xero invoices upon approval. This setting ensures that your billable hours are synchronised between both platforms, saving you the hassle of manual data entry.

When will Hourly-generated invoices show up in Xero?

As soon as you approve an invoice in Hourly, it will be sent to Xero, provided you’ve checked the “Add invoice in Xero” option. This feature is designed to streamline your workflow, allowing you to manage invoices in one place and see them reflected in your accounting software instantly.

Does Hourly align the customer details on Xero invoices?

Hourly is smart enough to attempt to match customer names when creating an invoice in Xero. If the names are identical or similar, the match is automatic. If not, you’ll have the opportunity to link the correct customer or add a new one in Xero, ensuring your records are always accurate.

Account Configuration

Can I specify which revenue account is used for invoice items in Xero?

Yes, you can. By default, Hourly uses the revenue account specified in the Xero settings on your Hourly Account page. But we understand that flexibility is key, so you can override this setting for individual line items directly in Xero, giving you control over how your financial data is organised.

Manual Operations and Status Updates

If I forget, can I manually transfer an invoice to Xero later?

At the moment, Hourly does not support manual transfer of invoices to Xero after the fact. We encourage users to utilise the automatic features to ensure all data is captured correctly in real-time.

Are changes to invoice status in Xero reflected back in Hourly?

Currently, Hourly does not sync invoice status updates from Xero back to the Hourly platform. We recommend managing invoice statuses within Hourly to maintain consistency across your records.

Revenue Account Customisation

Is it possible to have different revenue accounts for various projects or clients?

The current system does not support multiple revenue accounts for different projects or clients within Hourly. However, you can make adjustments to the revenue account for individual line items once the data is in Xero, offering a level of customisation post-integration.
